Camera Interface - View on HMI

Hi,

Is there a way to access Pi camera interface and view this in REX HMI?
Bare minimum it would be nice to see a live view to verify sensor calibration against physical mechanical analog values.
A added bonus would be to have the ability for DVR playback inside REX HMI.
A super added bonus would be to have the ability to use an inversion filter to do motion tracking of analog gauges, from Matlab / Simulink algorithm.

I am very new to REX Controls and I have started with the 2.50 release, from my understanding in REX earlier time you had to compile with Matlab / Simulink (I very well could be mistaken of this), I am also new to the Matlab world. Most of my experience is in Ladder Logic, function block with almost all known venders. So please bear with me as I am learning the awesome REX Control Systems platform and language.

Thanks,

Re: Camera Interface - View on HMI

Hi c_rothfeldt,

thank you for your question about Rex HMI.
In general there is no support for camera interface in Rex Control System for now, however we are working on camera driver including some basic machine vision algorithms.

There is possibility of integrating user defined HTML code into RexHMI - via CustomHTML component in RexHMI Designer. It means that if you are able to write a HTML webpage which can access Raspberry Pi camera (search for stream to web browser), you can include it into RexHMI.

Motion tracking can be implemented in some 3rd party SW - e.g. OpenCV (Python, C++). Afterwards, solution can be communicated into Rex Control System by means of file system, UDP/IP protocol, TCP/IP protocol, Rex REST API, etc.

Previous versions of Rex Control System could be used also as function block library in Matlab - there was no need in compiling of Rex with Matlab.

Hope that you have now at least some basic insight about Rex abilities.
Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information.

Good luck with your project!
Regards, Tomas

Re: Camera Interface - View on HMI

Tomáš,

Thanks for your swift reply to my questions, I will defiantly look into the options you have gave me, and I look forward to any updates for the camera driver in the future.

This is a new world for me having a full operating system at my disposal for an automation controller. Lots to learn :-)

Thanks,

Re: Camera Interface - View on HMI

Hi,

you are welcome. It seems that you have pointed out the key feature of Rex Control System - full control system in your hands wink

Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Re: Camera Interface - View on HMI

How can I contact you? Via Forum post, Direct e-mail, support email. I have looked all over the Forums but I see no way to contact you except for support email. I have a few questions that may or may not be forum type support. If any of the questions and support is forum information I would love to see it posted.

Thanks Again,

Chris R.
