no need to worry about this. RS485 is half duplex by design, therefore any external RS485 device will work with the Monarco HAT.

It's the internal UART communication between Raspberry Pi and Monarco HAT MCU which is full duplex and therefore needs to be buffered.

Looking at the data sheet for the Monarco Hat, it buffers for Half duplex RS485. If I connect something that only uses half duplex to the Hat is there anything else that needs to be set to allow this to communicate?
